Kenny Woods
Sahuaro High School
The International Culinary School at The Art Institute of Tucson’s Best Teen Chef 2008

Kenny Woods has been interested in culinary arts since the age of twelve.  He developed a love of cooking from his grandmother, who taught him the basic skills for making good comfort good, such as her homemade spaghetti and meatballs.  Kenny developed his interest in culinary arts classes at Sahuaro High School.

Outside of school and cooking, Kenny volunteered for The Tucson Event 2008, a fundraiser for The Boys and Girls Club of Tucson. He also enjoy hanging out with friends and trying different restaurants.

When cooking, Kenny always makes up his own dishes and likes to experiment with new foods, never using a recipe, just having fun and cooking up a storm.

Kenny works at Montana Avenue, in Tucson, where he is a line cook.  Having worked at the restaurant for close to two years, he has a basic understanding of how a kitchen is run.  With a degree from The Art Institute of Tucson, he hopes to one day  become the chef and owner of his own restaurant.

My family and friends are very supportive of my interests.  They are always willing to try my food and they love the nights when I create new dishes.  My favorite food to prepare is scallops because of their natural, sweet taste.  My favorite dish is pan-seared scallops with a fresh garden salad and citrus vinaigrette.
