Designers Statement
Upon receiving this assignment, my first impression led me straight to the thought of what is the easiest possible way for me to complete such an assignment and win this scholarship money. Yet, as I finished the design I found myself unsatisfied with the final product, therefore I deleted it and started again from scratch. The second time around, I found myself no longer looking for the easy way out but searching for a way to make this the best poster that I could. Such a process made me remember that the deciding factor that made me desire to enter the graphic design field was not because it was easy but because it continually challenges me to grow, learn, and produce better and bigger things. Just like the saying goes, “why settle for good when you can have greatness?” With such a mind set, I designed a poster to represent how I truly feel about art. The flower represents art in itself, ever growing and beautiful in ever aspect. The brush and dripping paint illustrates the channeled creativity of a true artist who is capable of turning a blank canvas into a masterpiece that can captivate and inspire its audience. In my mind, art is not about money or fame but about the gratification of doing something that I truly enjoy and love.
